Find a FREE ride to the Half Marathon
General Information:
The Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon Start Line is located on 19th Street adjacent to the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The Finish Line is on the Boardwalk at 6th Street. The Start and the Finish are approximately one and a half miles apart. There will be no race day parking at either location. This means you cannot park at the Convention Center on race morning or at the Finish Line beach area. Please follow the directions below for easiest access. Carpooling and early arrival is strongly recommended.
To the Start from Virginia Beach Oceanfront:

If you are staying or live near the Virginia Beach oceanfront, please take advantage of our free shuttle busses to the Start. Shuttles will run from Atlantic Ave. to the Start from 4:30 am to 6:00 am. There will be three shuttle pick up spots on Pacific Ave., located at 28th Street, 33rd Street and 40th Street. There are three shuttle pick up locations on Atlantic Ave. at 10th Street, 16th Street, and 57th Street. This shuttle service will be for participants only. You must have a race number to board the busses.
Spectators:
If you are staying or live near the Virginia Beach resort area it is strongly recommended that you walk to your chosen race viewing location. The Start, Finish and much of the race course are within walking distance of the oceanfront hotels. If you must drive and park, there are some City parking lots available near the Start and around the resort area with limited parking. Do not attempt to drive to the Start Line. The roads will be closed around the Convention Center. There will be no public parking at the Convention Center.
To the Start from out of town:

People driving in from outside of Virginia Beach should park at the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre and use our free shuttle bus service to the Start. This shuttle service will be for both runners and spectators and will run from 4:30 AM to 6 AM. From the 264 freeway exit Independence Blvd. (exit 17A), stay in the right hand lane and continue south on Independence.
Turn left at Princess Anne Road, then right at Concert Drive to the Amphitheatre entrance.
There is plenty of free parking at the Amphitheatre and far less traffic than in the resort area. The bus ride is approximately 20 minutes.
Start Line drop off and City parking lots:

If you are being dropped off at the Start, the drop off zone is located on 21st Street between Cypress Ave. and Mediterranean Ave., far right curb lane. The eastbound 264 freeway ends in Virginia Beach and becomes 21st Street. The drop off zone is two blocks from the end of the freeway on 21st. Participants and spectators may be dropped here for a short three block walk to the Start. After drop off, cars can park in the parking lots indicated on the diagram. There are other smaller private lots available in the area as well. Be advised that these are pay parking lots and typically charge $6 to $8 and offer limited parking. There is no parking at the Convention Center.
From the Finish:
All Participants and Spectators:
Return shuttle busses will operate at the Finish area from 11:00 AM to 1 PM. There will be two shuttle routes, one back to the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre and one back up Atlantic Ave. to the resort hotel stops used on the early morning route. There will be no shuttle bus service back to the Start. Both return shuttle routes are available to participants and spectators. The return shuttle boarding location for the Amphitheatre will be on Atlantic Ave. at 10th Street, west side. The return shuttle boarding location for Atlantic Ave. hotels will be on Atlantic Ave. at 10th Street, east side.
*Please Note: Return shuttles will not begin running until 11:00 am. This is one half hour later than previous years.
